This delicious Cheesy Ground Beef and Potatoes recipe combines tender, seasoned beef with layers of cheesy potatoes, creating a flavorful and satisfying comfort dish that the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture, stirring to combine, and cook for 1 minute. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Repeat the layers.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes for best results.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like carrots or peas for added nutrition.
