Chinese Peanut Butter Chicken is a flavorful and creamy dish made with tender chicken coated in a rich peanut butter sauce. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add peanut butter, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and chicken broth. Stir well to combine.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer. If desired, mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp of water, then add to the sauce to thicken.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the sauce by tweaking the honey or soy sauce to your taste.
  • For a spicier version, add a dash of chili flakes or Sriracha sauce.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed broccoli or snap peas for added crunch.
