Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, toss chicken with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Return chicken to the pan and coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot over rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use chicken breast and coat in a light cornstarch batter before frying.
  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or omitting the red pepper flakes.
  • Pairs well with steamed broccoli or stir-fried vegetables.
