  • 1 cup glutinous (sticky) rice

  • 1 ยฝ cups coconut milk

  • โ…“ cup granulated sugar

  • ยฝ tsp salt

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and sliced

  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (optional for garnish)

  • Fresh mint leaves (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse sticky rice until water runs clear. Soak in water for 4โ€“6 hours or overnight.

  2. Steam soaked rice for about 20โ€“25 minutes until tender.

  3. While rice is steaming, heat coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Stir until sugar dissolvesโ€”do not boil.

  4. Once rice is cooked, transfer to a bowl and gently mix in most of the coconut sauce. Let it sit for 15โ€“20 minutes to absorb.

  5. Slice mangoes while rice is resting.

  6. Serve sticky rice with mango slices, drizzled with the remaining coconut sauce.

  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and mint if desired.

Notes

  • Use glutinous rice, not regular white rice, for authentic texture.

  • Make sure mangoes are ripe and fragrant for the best flavor.
