Ingredients

Scale

    1. For the meatballs:
      • 1 lb ground beef
      • 1 lb ground pork
      • 1 small onion, finely chopped
      • 2 garlic cloves, minced
      • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
      • 1/4 cup milk
      • 1 large egg
      • 1/2 tsp allspice
      • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
      • Salt and pepper to taste
    2. For the sauce:
      • 2 tbsp butter
      • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
      • 2 cups beef broth
      • 1/2 cup heavy cream
      • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
      • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

    • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, pork, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Combine well.
    • Form mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry meatballs in batches until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
    • In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
    • Gradually add beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps.
    • Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until sauce thickens.
    • Add meatballs back into the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, ensuring they’re fully cooked.
    • Serve warm with mashed potatoes or noodles.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use low-sodium beef broth to control salt levels.
  • Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
