- For the meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
-
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, pork, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Combine well.
- Form mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry meatballs in batches until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps.
- Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until sauce thickens.
- Add meatballs back into the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, ensuring they’re fully cooked.
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes or noodles.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Use low-sodium beef broth to control salt levels.
- Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen for later use.
