Ingredients

  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 4 oz melted dark chocolate (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
  • Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Frost with melted dark chocolate and serve.

Notes

  • For extra indulgence, use a chocolate ganache as a topping.
